THE OPPORTUNITY

The Center is seeking a Project Director, RISE Project. The Project Director will lead the Center's RISE Project, focused on addressing the intersection of intimate partner violence and gun violence through community-based approaches and interventions with individuals who have caused harm. The Project Director will implement city-wide programs focused on community engagement and norms change, violence prevention, and engagement of individuals who are causing harm.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide supervision for an interdisciplinary team of program staff;
  • Meet regularly with the Mayor's Office to Prevent Gun Violence to ensure effective collaboration and communication;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the city's Crisis Management System sites - a city-wide network of gun violence prevention organizations and programs;
  • Develop and implement innovative new community-driven programs, initiatives and/or approaches designed to address and prevent IPV;
  • Develop, coordinate and manage community-based programs focused on voluntary engagement of individuals who cause harm in their intimate relationships;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with city-wide partners, stakeholders, and resources;
  • Support staff in community-based crisis intervention and individual engagement to facilitate the removal of barriers to accessing care to identified individuals and their families;
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships, networking and advocacy with public and private local stakeholders that provide services to those impacted by intimate partner violence;
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of training on issues of Domestic Violence/IPV, their intersection with community gun violence, and strategies for promoting healthy relationships;
  • Assess identified needs pertaining to Domestic Violence/IPV for individuals and/or families to establish suitable referrals and effective interventions;
  • Ensure staff are providing tailored and appropriate needs assessments, safety planning, crisis intervention and counseling to impacted community members;
  • Oversee data collection, management and reporting for funders, including compiling and submitting regular monthly and quarterly reports to the Mayor's Office to Prevent Gun Violence;
  • Assist with grant writing and fundraising; and
  • Additional relevant tasks, as necessary.

    • Qualifications: Master's degree and 4-5 years of experience or a Bachelor's degree and 6-7 years of experience in a position directly related to intimate partner violence, as well as at least 2-3 years of experience managing a team and supervising staff. This exciting position requires a creative self-starter who can accomplish tasks in a fast-paced environment. This position requires a flexible schedule with frequent travel across the five boroughs and regular evening and weekend hours. Candidates must be comfortable navigating interdisciplinary settings and must be willing to roll up their sleeves and be actively involved in day-to-day operations. Additionally, experience with transformative justice frameworks, community-based work, and community-based violence prevention is preferred.

    Position Type: Full-time.

    Position Location: Bronx, NY with expected travel throughout the five boroughs.

    Compensation: The compensation range for this position is $108,000 - $135,000 and is commensurate with experience.
