Job Purpose:
The HR Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing weekly payroll, new employee set up, employee offboarding, and HR assistance for the company consisting of benefit administration, on-boarding and vendor compliance. This position will be located on-site at our corporate office in Littleton, CO. The salary range for this role is between $31.00 - $37.00 USD, commensurate on relative years of experience, education, and a combination of other related factors.
The HR/Payroll Specialist will be accountable to the HR Manager. Secondary accountability will be to the CFO or Accounting Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure all timesheets are approved by the supervising manager.
- Monthly Union Reporting
- Review all timesheet submissions to verify accuracy and completeness of each entry.
- Input and manage data on third party payroll system. (Vista)
- Understand all aspects of payroll regarding payroll laws and regulations.
- Maintain high level of confidentiality.
- Intermediate or higher proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel & Outlook
- Work well under deadlines while managing multiple tasks.
- Working knowledge of Prevailing Wage regulations
- Submit weekly prevailing wage reports. LCPtracker, eMars, form WH347.
- HR assistance as required for new employee onboarding, documentation and badging.
- Work with HR Manager and CFO on special projects as assigned.
- Assist with reports and documentation when required.
- Other duties as required or assigned by company management.

Required Skills & Abilities:
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy is crucial in payroll processing to ensure employees are paid correctly and on time. Payroll specialists must meticulously review data to catch any errors.
- Knowledge of Payroll Systems: Proficiency in using payroll software or systems is essential. This includes understanding how to input and process payroll data, generate reports, and troubleshoot any issues that arise. Vista experience is a plus.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge: of office software packages, ie MS Word, Excel, Outlook, accounting software (Mas90 or Vista products a plus)
- Understanding of Employment Laws and Regulations: A solid grasp of local, state, and federal labor laws, including tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and employee benefits requirements.
- Mathematical Proficiency: Strong math skills are necessary for calculating wages, taxes, deductions, and benefits accurately. Payroll specialists must also be comfortable working with spreadsheets and performing basic calculations.
- Communication Skills: Effective communication is essential for interacting with employees, managers, and external stakeholders regarding payroll matters. This includes answering questions, resolving concerns, and providing clear explanations of payroll policies and procedures.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Payroll specialists should be adept at identifying and resolving payroll discrepancies, such as errors in timekeeping or discrepancies in pay rates.
- Organizational Skills: Managing payroll involves handling a large volume of data and deadlines. Payroll specialists must be well-organized to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll information.
- Confidentiality: Payroll specialists have access to sensitive employee information, such as social security numbers and salary details. Maintaining strict confidentiality and adhering to privacy policies is essential.
- Adaptability: Payroll processes and regulations may change over time due to updates in tax laws or company policies. Payroll specialists should be adaptable and able to quickly learn and implement changes as needed.
- Teamwork: Payroll specialists often work closely with HR staff, finance professionals, and other team members. Collaborating effectively with others to ensure smooth payroll operations is crucial.
- Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze payroll data, identify trends, and generate reports is valuable for providing insights into payroll expenses and performance metrics.
Education, License and Experience:
- Degree or relevant experience
- Minimum three years of experience in the field of Human Resources and Payroll
- HRIS experience is required.
- Vista experience is a plus.
- Prevailing Wage experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires prolonged sitting, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination for data input.
- Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Must maintain a clear background check in order to satisfy customer jobsite badging requirements.
