EXCITING OPPORTUNITY | MANUFACTURING | DOWNTOWN CHICAGO

Our client is looking to add a dynamic and versatile Manufacturing Engineer to their team!

Typical duties and responsibilities:

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Solve existing manufacturing problems in a collaborative, hands-on approach
  • Develop, prepare, and/or maintain documentation pertaining to manufacturing processes
  • Develop and drive implementation of best practices, error proofing solutions, and other innovative process improvements
  • Support quality initiatives and work with team to permanently resolve quality problems
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, process engineering, or a similar field.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Demonstrated skill in solving technical problems
  • Basic knowledge of production machinery and processes including welding, brazing, machining, and assembly
  • Experience with multi-level bill of materials
  • Experience with reverse engineering – drawings from actual
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office, Solidworks
  • Strong communication skills, to include spoken, written, and presentation skills
  • Strong root cause analysis, structured problem solving, and critical thinking capability
  • High level attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative and be flexible in a fast paced, small company environment
  • Strong capability of working closely with manufacturing associates in their environment

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in smaller manufacturing companies (job shop, machine shop)
  • Experience with ERP system, preferably Epicor, and Solid Works
  • Familiarity with refrigeration (experience with manufacturing of capital equipment is more important)
  • Exposure to machine electrical wiring and schematics
  • Ability to use hand tools
  • Desire for a career not just a job
