Atlas Web Technologies ® is seeking a Director of Quality for the Meridian, Mississippi facility.

Director of Quality Position Summary

The Director of Quality ensures that the organization's products and services are in compliance with the company's quality requirements, in addition to complying with customer and regulatory requirements for quality, safety, and reliability. Quality initiatives include assurance of testing of raw materials, in-process and finished products for all Web Technologies facilities. The Director of Quality will work with plants on continuous process and product improvements and establish and maintain division quality system.

Director of Quality Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the design, configuration, integration, implementation and documentation of standardized quality and process control systems for the division.
  • Assist with the standardization of system design, hardware and software for supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA).
  • Define, establish and set operational guidelines, reporting requirements and standards for instrumentation and control systems for quality metrics.
  • Responsible for maintaining up to date and accurate manufacturing specifications and raw material specifications.
  • Monitor and track performance utilizing key performance indicators. Investigate operational problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist with procedures that promote safety and comply with all safety procedures and regulations.
  • Assist Quality Managers with claims investigations, thorough root cause analysis and the development of corrective action plans.
  • Identify, assess, prioritize and manage quality and process improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure that all improvement initiatives are measured and reported accurately by developing key performance indicators to track progress with regular updates to management.
  • Coach and train employees on lean principles and methodologies when needed.
  • Assist in developing capital expense plans and help manage projects that support continuous improvement and asset enhancements.
  • Ability to interact professionally with customers and suppliers. Must respond to (and quickly resolve) product quality issues with finished goods and/or raw materials.
  • Will involve travel to plant sites (up to 50%).

Director of Quality Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of, and ability to work with, software including Minitab, SQL Databases, Excel, BI Publisher, Data Historian, Ignition or other SQL data reporting tools. Knowledge of PLC “tags”, DCS, Microsoft Windows and file/folder structure.
  • The ability to understand continuous processes and how to relate and apply the use of Statistical Process Control to controlling the Quality and improve the operations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques and tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for user support via phone, email or with remote desktop management software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills needed to manage and collaborate with internal and external resources.
  • Strong analytical skills for process development, administration and documentation.
  • Strong creative problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and a high level of numeracy.
  • Strong team skills, with an ability to collaborate with, motivate and influence others.
  • Flexibility and an ability to compromise
  • Ability and willingness to accept responsibility, manage multiple tasks effectively and efficiently and make sound decisions.

Director of Quality Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position will have one direct report, which is the CI Manager for the paper division. However, this position will also indirectly supervise others, internal and external to Atlas, in the areas of reports, process data mining and SCADA design, implementation and Quality management.

Director of Quality Education, Licenses & Certifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree is required.
  • The candidate must have a strong Technical and Statistical background.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Process Control and Continuous Improvement is preferred.
