We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Maintenance Engineer within our Chemical Manufacturing Plant located in New Johnsonville, TN.

  • Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products as our highest priority.
  • Ensure that Process Safety and Risk Management objectives are practiced daily through participation in Management of Change, Process Hazards Analysis, Process Safety Hazard Hunter, and Pre-startup Review responsibilities.
  • Evaluate, design, and recommend changes in maintenance activities to increase reliability of existing equipment, reduce repair costs and minimize product interruptions.
  • Provide ongoing engineering assistance to operations and maintenance. Troubleshoot process operating problems, investigate equipment failures, conduct special tests, develop reports and provide technical assistance as required.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain predictive, preventive, and proactive maintenance processes. Monitor equipment performance and make necessary changes to improve equipment reliability and mechanical integrity.
  • Work with maintenance, production, engineering, and other organizations to improve equipment care and work practices. Update maintenance and equipment procedures along with stores/inventory spare parts to better maintain equipment.
  • Conduct failure mode analyses to identify units posing excessive failure risks and support proposed changes in design.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and communicate mean-time-between-failures program for all critical rotating equipment.
  • Maintain critical rotating equipment repair records and logs.
  • Develop, update, track, and communicate action plans pertaining to REM tasks.
  • Review facility rotating equipment activities to ensure manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, and operation conform to all specifications, codes, standards, and procedures.
  • Perform formal and informal audits of the REM program elements to ensure compliance to all applicable codes and standards.
  • Lead maintenance-related capital projects. Develop project scopes and budget, review vendor proposals, and prepare capital appropriation documents.
  • Supervise hourly and contract personnel as required.
  • Assist in the training / coaching of hourly personnel in repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain appropriate Engineering drawings, files, and specifications as required.
  • Assist and/or lead in development, planning, and execution of outages or major repair work with maintenance and production.
  • Maintain current knowledge of company / government rules and regulations.
  • Supports and fulfills the requirements of the plant's Food Safety Program and ISO Quality System.
External Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree with 2 years minimum experience in plant maintenance or project engineering.
  • Experience with plant mechanical integrity programs and vibration analysis
  • Experience with pumps, centrifugal compressors, centrifuges, cooling towers, gear boxes, refrigeration equipment, vacuum pumps and mechanical seals
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English.
  • Physical requirements - Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
Additional Desired Qualifications
  • Good working knowledge of SAP
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards and other applicable codes relating to mechanical systems and rotating equipment.
  • Actual experience in design/maintenance of miscellaneous rotating equipment and associated failure analysis is preferred.
