We have an immediate opening for a Director of Products in our Bellingham, WA facility. The Director of Products oversees all product procurement and lifecycle management for multiple brands. Experience in woodworking and metalworking machinery and tools is a plus. Other product and category buyers will report to this position. Experience dealing with Taiwan and China suppliers is required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Define and lead the product execution strategy for multiple product categories.
- Lead and manage a team of product managers capable of scaling with the company.
- Partner with the Executive Team on procurement plans to enable business strategies.
- Mitigate Supply Chain risk through supplier qualification, development, and diversification.
- Foster and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers.
- Supplier maintenance, including the negotiation of contracts, currency agreements, and ongoing pricing.
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure contractual obligations are met.
- International travel to vendors, factories, and tradeshows.
- Continuous improvement to the quality and enhancement of our products.
- Maintain knowledge of the woodworking and metalworking market, including pricing and fair cost of goods.
- Review and set product pricing to ensure margins are maintained.
- Work with the Marketing Department on go-to-market strategies.
- Communicate with the Executive Team regularly regarding the flow of goods and services affecting production.
- Review customer feedback and surveys to improve and enhance services and products.
- Develop risk management procedures to mitigate losses in the event of product shortages.
- Direct performance management, staff development, merit increases, hiring of prospective employees, and continuous improvement initiatives for the buying, purchasing and customs group of employees.
- Ensure continuous flow and management of the new product pipeline.
Job Requirements:
- 10 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of five years in management.
- Experience in dealing with Taiwan and China suppliers.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to effectively plan, prioritize, document, and implement product department policies and processes.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Exemplary multitasking and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to direct others according to company standards.
- Strong situational awareness and conflict resolution skills.
