Job Title Driver - Wheelchair/Stretcher Van Non-Emergency Transport (NET) Location Lake City, FL Department Operations Status Non-Exempt/Hourly Reports to Area ManagerSUMMARY: Under the direction of the Area Manager and Operations Supervisor, wheelchair van/stretcher drivers will respond to prescheduled and same day requests for transportation and deliver high-quality care, treatment, and customer service to patients. Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-trip inspections of vehicle.
- Report any defects, mechanical problems, or missing items to supervisor.
- Drivers will respond to all assigned transport requests in a safe and efficient manner to facilitate patient transport to and from home and/or facilities.
- Must be able to communicate safety instructions and directions effectively to clients.
- Assist in the safe transfer of passengers in wheelchair/power chair.
* With a partner, lift patients onto stretchers and move stretchers into vans for transport.
- Arrive at all appointments and destinations on time.
- Responsible and accountable for completion of patient care reports while maintaining confidentiality and patient rights.
- Accurately record the transport and report all necessary information to dispatch.
- Responsible and accountable for accurately documenting response times and obtaining transfer of care signatures.
- Take pride in maintaining a safe and clean vehicle environment for patients.
- Complete daily vehicle checklist at the start of shifts and report any vehicle issues to appropriate chain of command as needed.
- Demonstrate efficient operations and knowledge of all equipment including but not limited to stretchers, wheelchairs, personal protective equipment, and TraumaSoft.
- Maintains a current working knowledge of all company policies, procedures, General Orders, and memorandums.
- Acts with integrity, honesty, and skill to promote the departmental mission and values of Excelsior.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Driving record in compliance with company policy
- Must be at least 23 years old
- State Driver's License
- CPR/BLS certifications (preferred)
- Ability to lift at least 200 pounds and to push and/or pull up to 275 pounds (sometimes heavier for bariatric patients) rationale: 299-pound patient +100-pound stretcher/2 = ~200 pounds. Standard maximum for 2-person lift.
- Some work experience, preferably in healthcare
- Ability to understand basic computer applications
- Must be able to manually open and close all doors and operate electronic/hydraulic lifts on the vehicle.
- Must be able to use a GPS System and other modern computer systems and applications
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and background checks.
