Position: Healthcare Litigation Associate - Mid to Senior Level Attorney

Department: Health Care Litigation Practice Group

Location: Orange County, Los Angeles, or Sacramento, CA

Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Direct Counsel is collaborating with a dynamic and rapidly growing law firm seeking a mid to senior level attorney to support their Health Care Litigation Practice Group. This position offers the opportunity to focus on critical issues affecting the health care sector, primarily engaging in health care reimbursement, business-to-business disputes, and government investigations. The successful candidate will benefit from working in a supportive and energizing environment while managing multiple high-stakes cases.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent hospitals, health systems, and other health care providers in litigation matters, including shareholder disputes, reimbursement lawsuits against major health plans, and multiparty, bet-the-company litigation.
  • Draft legal documents such as pleadings, discovery requests, and motions with precision.
  • Negotiate settlements and resolve disputes effectively with opposing counsel.
  • Review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents pertinent to health care litigation.
  • Participate in arbitrations, mediations, settlement negotiations, and trials.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and stay up-to-date on health care laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active law license in California, in good standing.
  • Strong background in business-focused health care litigation, particularly with reimbursement litigation experience.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple cases efficiently.
  • Excellent writing skills and outstanding academic credentials.

Client Profile: The Health Care Litigation Practice Group serves a diverse range of clients, representing hospitals and health systems in complex legal matters that impact the health care industry. The team is dedicated to providing effective legal solutions through collaboration and innovative strategies.

Compensation: The reasonably expected pay scale for this position is between $200,000 and $275,000, with bonus potential of up to $112,500. This is an employer estimate; the salary offered will depend on the candidate's years of practice, experience, and performance.
