Job Title: Full-Time Occupational Therapist (School Setting)

Reports To: Director of Special Education / School Principal
Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our team in a school setting. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in occupational therapy, preferably in a school environment, though candidates with other relevant experience are also encouraged to apply. The OT will be responsible for assessing, planning, and delivering therapeutic services to students with a variety of physical, emotional, and developmental needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students' physical, sensory, and motor skills to identify areas of need and develop personalized therapy plans.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to provide integrated services and create individual education plans (IEPs) for students.
- Design and implement individual and group therapy sessions, focusing on improving students' functional abilities related to school activities.
- Provide direct therapy services to students in both individual and group settings as outlined in their IEPs.
- Monitor and document students' progress, adjusting therapy plans as needed.
- Support students in improving their fine motor, sensory processing, and self-regulation skills to foster greater participation in classroom and school activities.
- Assist in training school staff to support students' needs throughout the school day.
- Participate in IEP meetings and other meetings as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes, reports, and other required paperwork.
- Stay updated on the latest research and best practices in pediatric occupational therapy.
Qualifications:
- Must be a Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR) licensed to practice in the state of Florida.
- At least 1 year of experience in occupational therapy is required, with school-based experience preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles, techniques, and pediatric development.
- Experience working with children with disabilities, learning challenges, and diverse needs.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with students, families, and staff.
- Ability to develop and implement individualized therapy plans.
- Proficient in using a variety of assessment tools and therapy techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a school-based setting.
- Familiarity with IDEA, IEPs, and related special education laws and guidelines.
- Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
- CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, move, and assist students as needed.
- Ability to sit, stand, kneel, and engage with students during therapy sessions.
