General Description: This is a field position. The incumbent performs routine tasks and fieldwork to assist with the planning and implementation of recreation programs, community events and facilities operations for individuals with varying degrees of cognitive, behavioral, or physical disabilities in an inclusion setting.Organization: The position reports to either a Recreation Supervisor or a Recreation Coordinator and supervises no staff. Essential Functions:
- Assists with the planning and implementation of recreation programs
- Leads programs and activities. Program areas might include sports, games, arts & crafts, nature, music, and/or cultural arts.
- Works and communicates with program staff to gain a comprehensive understanding of the abilities and disabilities of the individuals served.
- Assists individuals with disabilities, as needed.
- Assists with the inventory control, management, set up, breakdown and care of recreation supplies, equipment and program area.
- Performs related work as assigned.
