Operates vehicles with and without air brakes; utilizes hand, power, and pneumatic tools; maintenance of public right of way; performs related work as required.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Utilizes a variety of tools which may include, but not limited to power, pneumatic and hand tools to perform maintenance and repair functions
- Performs maintenance and repair functions as required
- Sets up barricades and temporary traffic control devices and/or traffic patterns
- Performs a variety of manual labor as required
- Drives a variety of City-owned vehicles and trucks with or without various attachments, including, but not limited to attachments used to remove snow/ice and to pickup leaves
- Properly follows City policies on vehicle and operating procedures
- Maintains routine equipment and/or vehicle records and prepares mileage log sheets and/or work orders as required
- Uses radio communication system
- Drives and operates small and/or light equipment as directed
- Assists in receiving and storing of supplies and materials
- Assists in conducting physical inventories
- Maintains safe conditions relative to proper placement and securing of truck cargo
- Performs cleaning and preventive maintenance and makes minor adjustments and minor repairs to City of Toledo equipment and property
- Maintains City vehicles by following proper cleaning and maintenance procedures as directed
- Perform pre-trip inspections
- May provide work direction to temporary/seasonal employees
- May perform clerical tasks, such as answer telephone, use radio to dispatch, etc

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of:
- The operation of city-owned vehicles and equipment
- Existing traffic laws, rules and regulations
- Occupational hazards and the proper safety precautions
- Hardware, tools and equipment used in the performance of work duties
- Operating and maintaining city-owned vehicles and equipment
- The operation, maintenance, and repair of simple tools and equipment
- To operate and maintain single axle dump truck, tandem axle dump truck, one ton dump truck, pick up and crew trucks, packer/garbage truck, hydro seeder, asphalt hot box, air compressor/trailer, chassis mounter street sweeper, crack sealer, asphalt patcher, tar kettle, forklift and lawn mower-riding.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATONS:
- Graduation from high school or General Education Development (GED) equivalency.
- One (1) year of manual labor work experience, which includes the use of hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
- Must be able to lift objects weighing up to approximately ninety (90) pounds.
- Must possess a valid driver's license
