High School Computer Science TeacherBeebe School District Department: High School Job Status: Full TimeFLSA Status: Exempt Reports to: PrincipalGrade/Level: Certified Positions Supervised: NoneWork Schedule:190-day contract. Teachers may periodically be required to attend after-school or evening events as a normal expectation of their position.POSITION SUMMARYTeach computer science programming and cybersecurity, career and technical, or vocational subjects at the secondary school level.Essential Functions:•Observe and evaluate student performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.•Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.•Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injury and damage.•Instruct students in the knowledge and skills required in a specific occupation or occupational field, using a systematic plan of lectures, discussions, audio-visual presentations, and laboratory, shop and field studies.•Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve student behavioral and academicproblems.•Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.•Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and theirresource needs.•Guide and counsel students with adjustment or academic problems, or special academic interests.•Plan and supervise work-based learning experiences programs in business and industry including paid and unpaid internships.•Provide disabled students with assistive devices, supportive technology, and assistance accessing facilities such as restrooms.•Meet with other professionals to discuss individual student needs and progress.•Select, order, store, issue, and inventory classroom equipment, materials, and supplies.•Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and professional development sessions to maintain and improveprofessional competence.•Sponsor extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests.•Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of secondary school programs.•Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula.•Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, as required.•Perform student supervision.•Exhibit knowledge of content and content-related pedagogy.•Exhibit knowledge of child/adolescent development.•Exhibit knowledge of individual student knowledge and skills, and special needs.•Plan and set sequential outcomes with rigor and high expectations.•Select and use appropriate resources.•Administer standardized ability and achievement tests and interpret results to determine student strengths and areas of need.•Plan and implement appropriate learning activities suitable to meet all student needs.•Plan assignments for teacher assistance, volunteers, and substitutes.•Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration.•Perform administrative duties such as assisting in school libraries, hall and cafeteria monitoring, and bus loading and unloading.•Demonstrate care and respect when interacting with students.•Manage classroom procedures with limited loss of instructional time.•Respond appropriately to student behavior.•Ensure students are actively engaged in learning.•Provide timely, consistent, high-quality feedback to students.•Develop and administer assessments of rigor that match student learning.•Reflect on practice and make adjustments for professional growth.•Maintain professionalism with staff members.•Report to the proper authorities any cases of suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse.•Adhere to all policies of the District.•Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or other administrators.SKILLS & ABILITIESEducation: Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) Required, Field of StudyExperience: No prior experience necessaryComputer Skills: Shall be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and programs associated with the position.Certifications & Licenses: Current Arkansas teaching license with appropriate certification required.Other Requirements: 1. Successful completion of pre-employment background checks.2.
