It's time to use your skills and passion to do work that matters!Job DescriptionPeterson Power Systems has a need for a Project Operations Manager at our Hillsboro, OR location. SUMMARYThe Project Operations Manager is responsible for managing and directing project management teams to ensure customer satisfaction, timely delivery, and budget adherence across all projects. Key responsibilities include collaborating with Sales teams, providing input for project quotes, and serving as a working project manager when necessary. The role oversees training of Project Managers and Project Engineers, emphasizing customer communication, ownership, and problem resolution. Additional duties include process improvement, financial risk management, change order processing, and vendor relations. This position requires strong cross-department collaboration and a focus on optimizing project outcomes while ensuring compliance with policies and standards.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSThe following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Job functions include the following and other duties may be assigned.Collaboration with Sales Representatives: Participate in pre-quote job walks.Provide input to quote considerations when appropriate.Manage projects as needed, acting as a working project manager when workload exceeds the capacity of team.Train and Direct the Project Managers ( PM ) and Project Engineers ( PE ) to:Put the customer first by using clear, specific, accurate and timely communications regarding their projects, responding quickly and appropriately to customer needs and problems.Take ownership of all projects by resolving problems and disputes quickly and fairly.Work with sales reps to participate in pre quote job walks and provide input to quote considerations when appropriate and working cooperatively with the Sales Representatives.Ensure on time delivery within budget on all projects while meeting or exceeding the expectations of our customers.Work with all project stake holders (i.e. Customer, Design Engineer, Caterpillar, Vendors, Peterson Service department, Contracts Group, Accounts Receivable, Accounting, etc.) to ensure on time and on budget project delivery.Follow procedures in usage of project management software, and all internal accounting, legal, credit, shipping, vendor, policies.Ensure all PM and PE become subject matter experts (SME) in one or more areas such as HCAi , NFPA, Emissions, ABS, etc.Process Improvement Work to streamline and improve the efficiency of all Project Management and Project Engineering procedures and processes.Work with other departments within Peterson to improve all processes and procedures.Work with Sales Manager and Sales Reps. to standardize non-CAT vendor offerings by prequalifying and partnering with non-CAT vendors.Work cooperatively with Project Management Manager in California to assure alignment on all Engineer and Project Management Processes and Procedures.FinancialWork in collaboration with the Sales Manager(s), Sales Representatives, Sales Admin, and applicable staff to:Ensure risks are mitigated and/or widely known and managed by project management team, including:Alignment of cancellation terms of our customers with our suppliers.Liquidated damages risk mitigation by flowing down the risk to suppliers and assuring the staff is managing for LD's.Alignment of cancellation clauses with our suppliers.Request and process change orders where applicable.Minimize payment of deposits to vendors.Maximize collection of deposits from customers.Track variable pricing from our suppliers and to our customers to ensure Peterson achieves our gross profit (GP) target.TravelTravel up to 20% of the time to meet with customers and team members, visit job sites, perform pre-quote job walks, and perform other essential job functions; Operate company or personal vehicle as needed.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree from a fully accredited college in Business or other closely related field; and a minimum of five years of directly related experience in project management in the construction industry; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSPMP Certification preferred.Must maintain a driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.Peterson Power Systems, Inc. is committed to equal employment opportunity and affirmative action.
