Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Facility Maintenance Technician. Rock West Composites, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for commercial and government customers. This position is located in our San Diego North office at 7919 Saint Andrews Ave San Diego, CA and reports to the Facilities Manager. Position Summary: The Facility Maintenance technician will ensure the Rock West North facilities are operational and in compliance with state and local standards. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program.
  • Support evaluation, cost estimating, permitting, and installations of new equipment or facility modifications.
  • Perform repairs on the facility as necessary to maintain a high level of function and appearance.
  • Repair and maintain industrial equipment and commercial facilities, including:
    • AC & DC control circuits and wiring, PLC controls.
    • Pneumatic and hydraulic components, machinery, HVAC systems, plumbing systems, etc.
  • Program programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Track and log maintenance costs; operate within a budget.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment, machinery, electric controls, wiring, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, and fabricate as needed.
  • Use hand tools and other shop equipment.
  • Monitor equipment and operations to meet quality and safety standards.
  • Locate sources of problems by:
    • Observing mechanical devices in operation.
    • Listening for problems and talking to operators or supervisors.
    • Using manufacturer manuals and precision measuring/testing equipment.
  • Maintain maintenance supplies by anticipating needed equipment and supplies.
  • Act as a project manager and oversee subcontractors for projects and routine services, such as:
    • HVAC service and repair.
    • Plumbing service and repair.
    • Fire sprinkler and alarm inspections and repair.
    • Fire suppression, fire extinguisher, and chemical room maintenance/inspections.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Required Education and Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience in electrical maintenance, including high/low voltage, AC/DC, and PLC control.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair high voltage, low voltage, AC/DC, PLC control, and equipment.
  • Solid knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Formal training or certification is a huge plus.
  • Strong mechanical skills.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems and process cooling/heating equipment and controls.
  • Basic welding and machining skills.
  • Familiarity with commercial/industrial plumbing and waste treatment.
  • Knowledge of environmental health and safety protocols.
  • Competent fabricator.
  • Ability to generate reports, estimate, and track costs.
  • Ability to effectively manage others, including subcontractors and janitorial staff
Other requirements:
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be a US Person (Resident Alien or US Citizen).
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Compensation: The compensation range for this position falls within $22 and $30 per hour or DOE.
