Accountable for the operational P&L, with a focus on achieving financial targets, managing budgets, and identifying opportunities for revenue growth and cost reduction.RequirementsStrategic Leadership
- Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for manufacturing and engineering that align with the company's business objectives, driving operational excellence and innovation.
- Developing long-term manufacturing and engineering roadmaps aligned with market trends.
- Evaluating and implementing new technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
- Collaborating with executive leadership on growth initiatives, such as new product launches or global expansion.
- Participate in M&A activities aligned with the strategic plans of the business unit and division.
- Domestic and international travel will be required, with up to 30% travel expected.Engineering and Operational Oversight
- Manage daily operations across manufacturing and engineering departments, ensuring processes run smoothly, efficiently, and to ensure customer commitments are met by delivering high-quality products on time and within budget.
- Streamlining workflows across multiple departments to optimize production capacity.
- Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) such as throughput, cycle time, defect rates, on time delivery.
- Managing outsources engineering partnerships to ensure alignment with company standards.Engineering Management
- Establish project management tools to ensure that electrical, controls, and mechanical engineering assignments are complete on time and within budget to support customer deliveries.
- Ensure embedded control systems are well documented and understandable.
- Manage new product development process to ensure products are released on time, meet the market need, and are within budget.
- Properly staff the engineering department to ensure all tasks can be complete including, sustaining engineering, new product development, and project tasks.Quality Assurance:
- Establish and maintain strict quality control measures to ensure products meet or exceed industry standards and customer expectations.
- Establishing a zero-defect policy with robust quality management systems (e.g., ISO & Six Sigma practices).
- Conducting regular audits of processes to identify and mitigate quality issues.
- Leading corrective action processes in response to product failures or non-compliance reports.Process Improvement:
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Driving initiatives to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance sustainability (e.g., implementing lean manufacturing or Six Sigma projects).
- Standardizing procedures across facilities to ensure uniformity and best practices.Budget Management:
- Prepare and manage budgets for manufacturing and engineering departments, including capital expenditures, to achieve financial targets.
- Forecasting annual budgets for new equipment purchases, hiring needs, and process upgrades.
- Analyzing cost-benefit scenarios for capital investment in automation or software.
- Monitoring variances between planned and actual expenditures and addressing inefficiencies.Team Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams within manufacturing and engineering, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Building leadership pipelines through mentoring programs for high-potential employees.
- Conducting cross-training sessions to improve workforce versatility and engagement.
- Facilitating workshops or training in cutting-edge manufacturing and engineering methodologies.
- Oversee key initiatives for hiring, talent development, and performance management.Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments, such as supply chain, quality assurance, and product development, to ensure seamless coordination and achievement of company goals.
- Working with supply chain teams to streamline raw material sourcing and inventory management.
- Collaborating with R&D to ensure designs are manufacturable at scale and cost-effective.
- Partnering with sales and marketing to ensure production aligns with demand forecasts.
- Engage in key customer activities and targeted initiatives.Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies, including but not limited to the inTEST Code of Ethics, safety standards, and information security protocols.
- Ensure all manufacturing and engineering activities comply with relevant industry regulations and safety standards.
- Developing safety protocols to align with OSHA or other local safety standards.
- Ensuring all production equipment and processes adhere to environmental regulations.
- Leading certifications and audits for industry-specific compliance standards.Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in an engineered equipment manufacturing organization, with a minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience.
- Extensive experience in manufacturing and engineering leadership roles, with a proven track record of driving operational excellence and managing large teams.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, engineering principles, quality control, and supply chain management.
- Strong leadership and strategic planning abilities, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across departments.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills, utilizing data analysis to inform strategies.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and a commitment to continuous improvement methodologies.
