The position of Fertilizer Applicator is of great significance to Valley Wide Cooperative. A person in this position is responsible for operation of custom application equipment in the application of fertilizer and chemicals to customer's fields in a safe, accurate, efficient and timely manner as well as promote the proper use of crop protection products. This is a safety-sensitive position. Job Summary:These are the basic requirements of the position and must be performed competently.
- Loading and mixing fertilizer and pesticide formulas.
- Ability to follow and interpret fertilizer and pesticide labels.
- Performing all applications in a timely manner and on schedule.
- Maintaining application logs and other records as necessary.
- Reading field maps and global positioning devices.
- Working around and handling hazardous materials properly.
- Performing daily inspection of equipment and minor repairs as needed.
- Willingness to work extended hours as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES:
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Must currently have or ability to obtain Idaho Professional Applicators license with all applicable endorsements.
- Must have a Class A CDL with HAZMAT endorsement.
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
- Must have strong communication skills; ability to communicate in appropriate, professional manner with managers, supervisors, employees, customers, vendors and general public.
- Must be able to make appropriate decisions and execute them according to policy.
- Must maintain appropriate and expected levels of customer service throughout the location.
- Must have ability to determine order of need and task priority based on level of importance.
- Must exhibit a professional and positive image.
