Position Overview:
Leon S. Avakian Engineering is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Municipal Engineer to join our team. This position involves managing and overseeing engineering projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and providing technical expertise for municipal infrastructure development and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, and oversee the construction and maintenance of public infrastructure, including roads, bridges, water, and sewer systems.
- Review and approve development applications, site plans, and construction drawings for compliance with municipal codes and standards.
- Prepare and manage budgets, grant applications, and contracts related to engineering projects.
- Collaborate with municipal departments, contractors, and stakeholders to coordinate projects effectively.
- Conduct inspections and assessments of infrastructure to identify maintenance needs and recommend improvements.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Provide technical advice to municipal boards, committees, and elected officials.
- Prepare reports, studies, and presentations on engineering-related matters.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey required.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in civil engineering, preferably within a municipal setting.
- Strong knowledge of municipal codes, land use regulations, and environmental laws.
- Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
