Job Description :

Position Overview: The Quality Control (QC) Manager will oversee the quality assurance processes in a defense contractor manufacturing environment. The ideal QC Manager will ensure that all products meet the stringent quality standards required for defense contracting, from production through to final shipment. The Quality Control Manager will work closely with production, supply chain, and engineering teams to establish and maintain best practices for quality control across all stages of the production cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Control Oversight:
    • Develop, implement, and manage quality control policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with defense industry standards and regulations.
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits throughout the production process to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to established quality standards.
    • Perform final product inspections and approval before shipping to ensure all products meet the required specifications and customer expectations.
    • Work closely with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve quality issues promptly, minimizing production delays.
  • Material and Process Quality Management:
    • Collaborate with the Supply Chain and Production teams to ensure the availability of high-quality materials and supplies for production.
    • Review and approve incoming raw materials and components for quality, ensuring they meet stringent defense industry standards.
    • Monitor and improve the performance of manufacturing processes to ensure consistency and reliability in product quality.
  • Production Coordination:
    • Liaise with the production manager and line leads to ensure that all production activities are carried out according to the established quality standards and timelines.
    • Ensure that all relevant quality control data is accurately recorded and communicated across departments.
    • Coordinate with the inventory management team to monitor material quality throughout the production lifecycle and address any shortages or deficiencies.
  • Management Information and Reporting:
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive quality management reports, including key performance indicators (KPIs), quality audits, and inspection outcomes.
    • Analyze quality data and collaborate with management to develop strategies for improving plant performance and product quality.
    • Support postproduction reviews, ensuring that any required repairs or rework are thoroughly documented and quality standards are met.
    • The QC Manager will also be responsible for accurate recording of labor hours in the company ERP system. This involves properly clocking in and out of jobs.
    • The QC Manager will ensure that all relevant personnel are trained on the appropriate quality procedures in order to maintain compliance and reduce errors.
  • Postproduction and Shipping:
    • Oversee the postproduction quality review process, ensuring that all products meet quality standards before being shipped.
    • Collaborate with the shipping and receiving teams to schedule final inspections and ensure all products are shipped in compliance with customer specifications.
    • Manage and prioritize repair work orders, reviewing inspection reports and ensuring timely resolution of any quality issues.

    Qualifications:

    • Background in Quality Control in a manufacturing setting - 5-10 years of experience preferred.
    • Strong understanding of quality management systems, including ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or equivalent certifications and practices.
    • Proficient in using ERP systems and other manufacturing tools for data management and quality reporting.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and a focus on continuous improvement.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate quality standards and expectations clearly.
    • Proven ability to lead quality improvement initiatives and drive results within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

    Reporting Structure: The Quality Control Manager will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and work closely with other key departments including production, engineering, and supply chain.
