Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care to a diverse population of adult patients with various medical conditions, including post-surgical patients and those with chronic illnesses.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans, updating them as needed based on patient progress.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accurate documentation of all procedures and interventions.
- Monitor patient vital signs, lab results, and other clinical data, responding promptly to any changes in condition.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, social workers, and physical therapists, to deliver comprehensive care.
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnosis, treatments, and post-discharge care.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring that the rights and needs of patients are respected at all times.
- Ensure proper infection control practices are followed and that the environment remains safe for both patients and staff.
- Manage patient admissions, discharges, and transfers while coordinating with other departments.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records and documentation in accordance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Respond to emergencies and assist in code situations when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and relevant healthcare regulations (such as HIPAA).
Qualifications:
- Current and valid RN license in the state of New York.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a Med-Surg nursing role, preferably in a hospital setting.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of patient care.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a healthcare team.
