Estimator / Cost Control SpecialistLocation: Remote with occasional travel to site in USJob Type: Contract, Full-Time, W2Target Start/Duration: February 2025, 1 year anticipated durationBenefits: Eligible for comprehensive benefits options, including health, dental, vision, 401, PTO accrual, etc.Compensation: Competitive hourly pay rate, DOEStatus: Non-exempt, all hours over 40/week paid at time and a halfJob Description:We are currently seeking a highly skilled Estimator / Cost Control Specialist to support a specialty chemical client site (remote with occasional travel). This role will primarily focus on providing check estimates for work packages and reviewing invoices for completed construction work. The work involves heavy mechanical/piping (approximately 70%), electrical (30%), and some limited commercial scope for office building upgrades.The position is remote, with occasional travel as needed and to become familiar with the facility in the US. Initially, the workload will consist of approximately 10-20% estimating and 80-90% invoice reviews through June, before shifting to 100% estimating for the next project phase.Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and provide check estimates for work packages related to heavy mechanical/piping, electrical, and commercial scopes.
  • Review and validate invoices for completed construction work, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project budgets.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to assess costs and identify discrepancies.
  • Analyze project costs, expenditures, and financial trends to support cost control initiatives.
  • Ensure that all cost estimations align with project timelines, resources, and scope requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting related to cost estimation and invoice approvals.
  • Travel occasionally to the facility to gain familiarity with site conditions and project requirements.
  • Assist in transitioning from invoice-heavy reviews to a fully estimating-focused role as the project progresses.
Qualification/Experience Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in estimating and cost control within a specialty chemical, industrial, or heavy mechanical/piping environment.
  • Strong understanding of construction cost estimating methodologies and invoice validation.
  • Experience working with mechanical, piping, and/or electrical systems in an industrial setting.
  • Proficiency in cost estimating and financial analysis software.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to the facility.
  • Experience in a specialty chemical or process-based industrial facility.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts and cost control best practices.
  • Familiarity with project management software tools.
