Salary: $16.66 - $23.00 Hourly Location : Wenatchee, WA Job Type: Temporary Full-Time Job Number: 202200076 Department: Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Division: Park Maintenance Opening Date: 07/10/2024 Closing Date: Continuous Purpose Seeking a motivated and independent temporary worker primarily to assist the Parks Maintenance crew. Full-time, up to 40 hours per week. Up to a maximum six months. Essential Job Duties
- Assists in maintenance of City parks and park facilities in a safe and efficient manner.
- Performs grounds keeping and clears flower beds of weeds and debris.
- Operates a variety of equipment such as pick-up truck, mower, weed eater and edger.
- Performs clean up tasks including picking up garbage/litter and cleaning park bathrooms.
- Adheres to established safety procedures and utilizes safety equipment as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Lawful and active WA Driver License.
- Groundskeeping experience preferred.
Prefers knowledge of:
- Basic principles, procedures and practices of groundskeeping.
Requires the ability to:
- Consistently represent the City by maintaining a professional demeanor in all activities.
- Work outside in all weather conditions and temperature extremes.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools and basic groundskeeping equipment.
- Reach with hands and arms. Regularly and frequently stand, walk, bend over, ambulate up and down ladders and stairs, and have good hand to eye coordination, and finger dexterity to handle, feel and/or operate objects, tools and controls. Occasionally sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk and hear with background noise.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
The City of Wenatchee has adopted a policy measuring the 'full-time' status of temporary employees over 12-months for purposes of benefit eligibility. Temporary employees with assignments less than 6-months are not eligible for benefits with exception of participation in the WA State Department of Retirement System (DRS) as long as DRS eligibility requirements are met (compensated for at least 70 hours per month for five months in a 12-month period). There will be no retroactivity applied to benefits or any other employment terms and conditions should regular employment be offered at a future date.
