Job Description :

The EHS Specialist will support all aspects of Environmental, Health & Safety compliance at the Hamilton, OH location, and support regional activities, including environmental reporting, internal audit programs, management system platforms and training applications. The EHS Specialist will report to the EHS Manager, based in Wauconda, IL and collaborate with stakeholders throughout the organization. Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Local:
    • Provide on-site environmental, health and safety support for the Hamilton, OH location.
    • Interpret federal, state and local requirements and assure compliance with regulatory obligations.
    • Develop localized policies and programs for site-specific safety requirements.
    • Thoroughly investigate incidents and work with stakeholders to determine and address root causes.
    • Complete routine inspections, reports and training while maintaining required records.
    • Conduct hazard assessments, job safety analyses and accident investigations.
    • Coordinate environmental and safety-related corrective and preventive actions.
    • Assemble and lead an employee safety committee.
    • Coordinate employee exposure monitoring and medical surveillance testing.
    • Cultivate strong relationships with employees, management and external stakeholders to ensure successful adoption of environmental, health & safety initiatives.
    • Communicate and collaborate at all levels of the organization to foster a culture of safety.
  • Regional:
    • Execute internal audits and report findings for all Synergy US locations.
    • Administer EHS core applications.
    • Draft and submit required environmental reports for all Synergy US locations.
    • Perform other regional support duties as assigned by the EHS Manager.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study or 5+ years of experience in environmental, health & safety management or a related field.
  • 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing-related setting (food ingredient manufacturing preferred).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships to collaborate effectively across departments and locations.
  • Knowledge of environmental, health & safety regulations at local, state and federal levels.
  • Flexibility to periodically work 2nd and 3rd shift to provide training and support to off-shift employees.
  • Capable of routine travel to sites in Wauconda, IL and Chicago, IL (expected travel 2-5 days/month).
  • Detail-oriented with ability to analyze and assess situations to spot potential hazards and coordinate mitigation.

Salary Range: $61, 765.00 - $92,600.00 The actual compensation that you will be offered will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience and other relevant factors.
