HTST Operator - Wed/Thur & e/o Fri-Sun, 6pm-6amLocation - This is an onsite role that works at the Chaseburg Creamery, in Chaseburg, WI. We are driven by our mission to promote regional farm diversity and economic stability by the means of organic agricultural methods and the sale of certified organic products.Summary of RoleThe HTST Operator is responsible for operating semi-automated equipment for milk and cream pasteurization. This role loads and unloads raw and pasteurized milk. This is a safety sensitive role. The creamery is open 365 days a year including holidays.Essential Duties and Responsibilities* Perform and record milk laboratory tests to determine if load meets CROPP specifications prior to unloading and/or shipping.* Receive and/or load raw and pasteurized milk and cream.* Seal, unseal, and verify the tanker wash tags as appropriate.* Operate milk and cream HTST pasteurizers within specified requirements.* Perform cream culturing process according to work instructions as needed to meet production requirements provided by the Production Manager.* Operate automated CIP systems to clean HTST systems, milk supply lines, pasteurized load out lines, pasteurized storage tanks, RAW milk silos, receiving lines, tankers, cream vats and cream silos.* Complete and file bill of lading (BOL) and certificate of analysis (COA) per each outbound tanker.* Record appropriate data (both physical and digital) for production and sanitation items. This includes DOORS shipping and receiving entries, vat/silo binders and shrink spreadsheet, chart recorder records for pasteurizers and tanks, and any sanitation tasks.* Maintain and monitor chart recorders, including changing charts and pens.* Follow and comply with applicable good manufacturing, safety, and quality assurance policies and practices.* Assist with state time & seal processes as well as separator and press teardown.* Maintain HTST equipment by assisting in valve seal changing as well as gasket replacement.* Maintain and follow proper vessel rotations.* Complete assigned daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly sanitation tasks.* Email daily shift reports and fluid inventory.* Maintain records of plant fluid inventory within the shrink spreadsheet.Additional Duties and Responsibilities* Assist with general plant cleaning and/or property maintenance as needed.* Other duties as assigned by supervisor.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities* Ability to obtain state permits to operate pasteurizer.* Must be able to work a 12-hour shift, including weekends and holiday work.* Basic computer skills required. Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word preferred.* Working knowledge of good manufacturing practices.* Ability to read and comprehend standard operating procedures.* Ability to work in fast paced environment.* Ability to multitask and operate under pressure.* Ability to frequently lift/carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift (up to) 80 pounds with assistance.* Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift.* Ability to climb truck manways and work at heights with appropriate personal protective equipment.* Ability to interpret and understand results of official samples.* Ability to work safely with required sanitation and lab chemicals and follow appropriate PPE guidelines.* Ability to work with limited supervision.* Basic math skills including arithmetic; ability to perform and interpret basic calculations related to count, weight, and time.* Manual dexterity to perform frequent wrist twisting and bending motions.* Handwriting must be neat and legible.* Good record keeping required.* Good understanding of machine and pump operations.* Effective collaborative skills; must perform comfortably in group settings.* Verbal and written communication skills; ability to follow instructions and to clearly express ideas in a concise and professional manner.* Strong work ethic with history of good attendance.Base hourly wage range: $22.00 - $26.13 per hourThe typical hourly wage for a new hire with little or no experience is $22.00. This position also receives a $1.00 per hour shift premium between the hours of 6pm and 6am, and a $1.00 per hour shift premium on Saturdays and Sundays. This hourly wage range is exclusive of fringe benefits. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary bonuses. If you are hired at CROPP, your final base hourly wage compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience. Additionally, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer.
