VP Coverage Banker - US Technology Clients Coverage

BBVA New York (Hybrid)

BBVA is looking for a VP -level banker with 7+ years working as a Global RM (CRM) focusing on large corporate client relationships in the US Technology sector ($3B+ in annual revenues with a global presence). It is key to demonstrate strong client relationships and transaction experience. The main focus of the candidate will be to support senior bankers in defining a prospect list and onboarding new clients to BBVA, ensuring bank profitability targets can be achieved. The candidate must have previous experience cross-selling DCM, Cash Management Services, trade finance, multi-product solutions, and risk management solutions (interest rate, commodity, and foreign exchange) in the US and globally.

Responsibilities:

  • The Relationship Manager is responsible for business development and relationship management activities with global clients, with emphasis on originating business and generating cross-selling opportunities based on BBVA's product capabilities in the US and BBVA's global network.
  • Works with Portfolio and Risk Management Group, and product partners from Global Markets, Corporate Lending, and Trade Finance to facilitate overall customer relationship management and cross-selling.
  • Leads relationships with the clients and coordinates relationships with their subsidiaries by generating ideas, proposing product solutions, and pricing.
  • Leads negotiation of contracts with clients and participates in project implementation teams in cooperation with other product/country teams.
  • Undertakes all required steps to onboard clients, e.g., 'know your customer' process and to approve transactions in BBVA business committees.
  • Reviews and analyzes financial statements, credit data, company announcements, and guidance.
  • Works with the Risk teams and Bank committees as needed in order to extend new credit lines/maintain BBVA's financial exposure/limits for a particular client.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates actual and potential global returns both for specific client transactions as well as overall profitability of the client.
  • Leverages sector and product knowledge as well as overall business acumen to engage in value-delivering conversations with key business leaders to identify their business issues, challenges, and opportunities as well as their performance drivers in order to confidently present the most appropriate research and analytics solutions.
  • Scope of Duties:

    The Relationship Manager will deal with 15-25 global clients and prospects, companies with annual sales of $3.0 billion and above and presence in at least 4 countries. He/she will be responsible for helping generate total gross margin of $30-50m from the new portfolio of clients by year three and growing the pool of clients/revenue per client to achieve approximately 15% annual growth thereafter.

    Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7-10 years of Corporate or Investment banking experience including as a Global Relationship Manager (or equivalent).
  • Expertise in the Technology sector.
  • Experience originating, negotiating, and managing transactions.
  • Extensive corporate finance product knowledge including credit, capital markets, and derivatives as well as other financial products and services.
  • Previous experience cross-selling DCM, Cash Management Services, trade finance, multi-product solutions, and risk management solutions (interest rate, commodity, and foreign exchange) in the US and globally.
  • Demonstrated proactive ownership and expertise in managing credit risk.
  • A highly professional and polished individual with an entrepreneurial spirit and approach as well as strong overall business acumen.
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or related field.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is helpful but not required.
  • Series 7 certification preferred.

    With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $170,000 to $230,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
