Saint Thomas Church, is a vibrant parish of the Episcopal Diocese of New York. Its mission is to worship, love and serve Our Lord Jesus Christ through the Anglican tradition and our unique choral heritage.
Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue is a gift to the people of New York; an oasis of prayer at the heart of Manhattan. Open 365 days a year, it receives well over 300,000 visitors in addition to worshippers. The Church has a very successful and growing livestream ministry and a number of programs including children and family ministry, pastoral care across all the ages, Pan-Asian ministry, social justice outreach, a very robust theological program led by a Theologian in Residence, and a significant concert series.
Built to cathedral proportions, it is often described as the most beautiful Gothic church in North America and home to the world-famous Choir of Men and Boys, and the only residential Choir School in America where the choristers make up the whole student body. The choir sings on average five choral services a week during school semesters. In September, the Choir School will enter into a collaboration with The Professional Children's School of New York.
We look to appoint a new Director of Music to begin on September 1, 2025. The position includes oversight of all choirs and music programs, with an emphasis on maintaining and strengthening the Choir of Men and Boys, as well as spearheading new musical initiatives.
As we transition to a new collaborative Choir School model, the Vestry of Saint Thomas Church wishes to make provision for a separate girls' choir, a choir of professional men and women, and an expanded form of the Noble Singers with an outreach project to local children.
