Position Type: Elementary School Teaching/Elementary - K through 5 Date Posted: 3/3/2025 Location: Gallup Hill School Date Available: 25-26 SY Closing Date: Open Until Filled Ledyard Public Schools is seeking a 1st Grade Teacher at Gallup Hill School beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the School Administrator to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills. Qualifications:
- Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers and paraprofessionals
- Ability to promote positive self-concept in each student; provide encouragement to each student to develop his or her full potential
- Demonstrate excellence in teaching
- Enthusiasm for teaching and learning
- Promote a positive learning environment responsive to and respectful of the needs of students
- Understand social and emotional needs of students
- Successful elementary teaching experience preferred
- Ability to work with a diverse student population
Responsibilities:
- Work in the interest of the students' physical and emotional welfare and to embrace a growth mindset
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
- Accept and incorporate suggestions for classroom improvement
- Keep inventory of materials, equipment and supplies
- Maintain contact with parents and school personnel as needed to evaluate students' academic and social growth
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of people, including students, their parents, and staff
- Continue to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research
- Collaborate with colleagues in order to best meet the academic and social emotional needs of students as well as foster a positive school-wide culture
Additional Duties:
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
Salary and Benefits:

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child
Required:
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment
- CT teaching certification (305) preferred
