KBEMS provides regulatory oversight for morethan 220 EMS agencies, 186 training and education institutions and 14,000 certified licensed providers acrossthe Commonwealth. The Board is made up of 13 members. Additionally, there are four committees and several sub-committees that are made up Board members and volunteer subject matter experts in the specified area ofinterest.The ideal candidate will need to be self-motivated and possess the ability to communicate by phone, email, andin person with licensees, the public, board members, and legal staff. This position requires strong analyticaland comprehensive skills, earned from both education and professional experiences, to interpret statutes andregulations for the board, public, and licensees to carry out the work of the Board.Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Conducts inspections related to licensing of EMS providers as related to state regulations. Determinesthe continuation or cessation of an EMS providers' services.
  • Provides technical and consultative assistance to local agencies, officials, and personnel related tothe development and improvement of EMS operations and the licensing of EMS providers.
  • Assesses the availability and quality of continuing education and training programs in assigned region.Assists in the planning and implementation of training required for EMS personnel.
  • Provides technical assistance to eligible candidates for the state grant fund program.
  • Attends district and regional meetings as required. Serves as liaisonbetween EMS providers and the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services (KBEMS). Carries out directives ofKBEMS.
  • Performs other administrative duties as necessary.
Skills and Expectations include, but are not limited to:
  • Professional experience in emergency medical services operations
  • Experience in conducting inspections
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented
  • Knowledge of Emergency Medical Service statute and regulation.
