1:1 Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant with experience in supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role offers flexible working opportunities across Doncaster, Rotherham, and Sheffield, making a real difference in the lives of students who require that extra level of support.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide tailored 1:1 support to students with SEND/SEMH, facilitating their academic and social development.
- Work closely with the classroom teacher to implement individual learning plans.
- Employ a range of strategies to promote positive behaviour and engagement.
- Assist with the preparation of learning materials and the classroom environment.
- Monitor and record the student’s progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Adapt communication style to meet the needs of individual children.
- Encourage independence and self-confidence in students.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, particularly in a 1:1 capacity with SEND/SEMH children.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by students with additional needs.
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing disposition.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work with different age groups and learning requirements.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
