Job title: Data Governance Analyst

The role:
The Data Governance analyst will support and contribute to the effective implementation of data governance policies, processes and platform. They will work closely with colleagues in the Finance Data & Reporting Office (FDRO) and the wider Finance Function to support the data governance function, ensuring the availability, quality, and compliance of the data assets. This role will require a strong understanding of data management principles, compliance regulations, and technology trends.
Responsibilities:
- Implementing and maintaining the enterprise-wide Data Management strategy and framework associated with metadata management, data quality management, master and reference data management, data security and compliance.
- Work with the security and compliance leaders to establish and manage data privacy standards and access controls to protect and secure data.
- Establish and provide enforcement support for data governance policies, standards and procedures.
- Development and maintenance of the enterprise data artifacts (data models, CRUD matrices, business glossary, and data catalogue).
- Develop and report on key performance indicators regarding data quality, compliance with data-related policies, standards, and other data governance program objectives.
- Lead and facilitate continuous improvement efforts leading to efficient data governance processes.
- Communicate and educate business owners and stewards on data best practices.
- Collaborate with data architect(s) and data engineering colleagues to ensure the creation and optimization of consistent data quality checks.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, best practices, and frameworks.
- Experience in implementing and maintaining enterprise-wide data governance strategies and frameworks.
- Ability to establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
- Proficiency in various aspects of data management, including data quality, data security, metadata management, master and reference data management.
- Knowledge of data privacy, data security, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, DPA).
- Excellent partnership and engagement skills to collaborate with leadership, IT teams, and business end-users.
- Ability to work closely with business leaders to identify and prioritize critical data elements and align data governance initiatives with business objectives.
- Strong communication and liaison skills to serve as a data governance and data management liaison between leadership, lines of business, IT, and end-users.
- Ability to effectively communicate data governance policies and best practices to business owners and stewards.
