We are recruiting for our client, who is seeking a skilled and proactive 2nd/3rd Line IT Engineer to manage their technology platforms, with a focus on server and computing facilities. This role also includes leading the IT department’s cybersecurity strategy from a policy and processes perspective.
This is a full-time, permanent position based in the Sevenoaks area with a competitive salary and benefits package, including professional development opportunities, access to on-site facilities, 25 days holiday per year excluding bank holidays, free lunch and parking as well as employee assistance programme cycle to work scheme and fee admission policy.
Salary: £38,000 - £45,500 per year, dependent on qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Management:
- Manage and maintain the server, storage, and cloud infrastructure.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for server, storage, backup, and Active Directory.
- Ensure security standards are upheld, including regular upgrades and patch management.
- Assist in the design, implementation, and testing of business continuity plans.
- Provide technical expertise for the deployment of applications, including cloud-based solutions.
Cybersecurity Leadership:
- Act as the IT team’s lead on cybersecurity policies and processes (additional training provided as necessary).
- Co-ordinate responses to security threats and organise penetration tests and vulnerability assessments.
- Write and update cybersecurity policies and manage risk processes within the IT department.
Collaboration and Support:
- Provide subject matter expertise on IT projects and support colleagues with IT system requirements.
- Collaborate with external service providers for system upgrades and new technology deployments.
- Contribute to process optimisation and operational efficiency across the IT team.
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience in managing server infrastructure, including Windows Server, SQL, and VMware.
- Hands-on experience with cybersecurity practices and the ability to lead policy development.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and cloud backup solutions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
Desirable:
- Experience in an educational environment or an understanding of academic processes and software.
