Job Title: Sales Account Manager -

Reports to: Head of Sales

Based in: London

The successful candidate will be well organised and able to manage multiple priorities, excelling in collaboration, resilience and innovation with strong communication and presenting skills. This individual loves the thrill of the chase in doing a deal and is motivated by the pursuit of a weekly and monthly target.

You should have solid Commercial Awareness and analytical skills as well as experience selling to customers both in the UK and internationally (including countries outside Europe).

The ideal candidate will have at least three years' sales experience in the discount market, in wholesale or for an FMCG manufacturer and a proven track record of delivering results through your own initiative and tenacity

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring ongoing development of category, market and competitor knowledge through utilising industry networking software, local & trade press and physical store and customer visits, to drive product and supplier wish lists for the Buying team to go after.
  • Ensuring regular account planning sessions in addition to the daily conversations around products and prices needed to deliver the weeks sales numbers.
  • Identifying accounts with potential and developing a 1-page strategy document for how to unlock it, reporting on progress quarterly within account review meetings.
  • Protecting the health of core customers by increasing the number of lines they buy within a category, introducing them to new, equivalent brands to the ones they usually buy and by expanding the number of categories they buy from.
  • Generating a pipeline of new business leads, following these through the qualification to conversion process and report on progress monthly.
  • Using your knowledge of customers and their market, along with your deep relationships to get them to commit to purchase items ahead of the Buyers bidding so that we guarantee a quick turn on the stock.
  • Focusing on maximising profit through accurate costing of additional fees
  • Analysing sales data to monitor your own progress and identifying sales opportunities within your account portfolio.
  • Supporting in the delivery of the businesses budgeted profit targets through cost control, sharing intelligence for making sound commercial decisions and having a "sell for more" attitude
  • Selling the good stock with the bad to blend out parcels and maximise the value per truck delivered. Keeping the volume of aged (over 90 days) and problem stock within acceptable thresholds within the business; Focusing on minimising losses and maximising profit.
  • Must be a car driver and have a car

On average a commercial colleague could expect to achieve 10% per annum.

Candidates must have GCSEs in Maths and English as well as IT skills, specifically proficient in Microsoft Office.

A degree in a relevant discipline and experience in using CRM is preferred but not essential.

Salary : 55000 - 65000
