AAT Qualified Accountant - Stockport (386 Buxton Road)

Full time or reduced hours

The Accountancy People are looking to recruit a Level 4 AAT Accountant, or equivalent, with a positive attitude to join our successful and growing team.

We are a training office for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales therefore it is possible to take you through to becoming a Chartered Accountant. The growth of the firm means that we can progress you to more complex work as you develop your skills and knowledge. That said there is no requirement for you to carry out further training.

We mainly use Xero accounting software, knowledge of this programme is advantageous but not obligatory.

The main duties initially include assisting other staff members where required including:

• Preparing company accounts further guidance will be given as required
• Working on and reviewing VAT returns
• Supporting the bookkeeping of the clients e.g. helping them on Xero
• Dealing with client correspondence.

You may be trained into becoming a client manager taking on the responsibility for all aspects of clients’ accounting i.e.:

• Personal tax returns
• Company accounts
• Company tax
• Dealing with Companies House
• VAT returns

Skills required:

• Must have good communication skills (telephone, face to face and email)
• Good written English and highly numerate
• Work well within a team and on your own
• Good computer skills
• Hard working and interested in learning
• Must have have experience working in practice within a firm of Accountants

Qualifications required:

• C (4) or above in English and Maths GCSE
• A Levels are desired but not required
• AAT Level 4 Diploma in Accounting or equivalent
