Your new company

Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a well-known and established family-owned business to recruit a dynamic & hands-on accountant to join their accounting team in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. This newly created growth position will report directly to the Financial Controller and offers involvement in a variety of financial areas of the business. You will have the opportunity to supervise a small accounting team as well as being involved in process/systems improvement projects. This role is open to finance professionals who are qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA or at finalist level.

Your new role

Your key duties will involve fixed asset accounting and maintenance, month-end journals to include accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations. Playing a key role in year-end accounts preparations along with annual audit queries, and balance sheet control account reconciliations. Year-end stock take, analysis of data/management report generation, completion of national statistics office forms, along with financial reporting and submission of PSA/P11D reporting. You will support the implementation of new accounting rules and supervise/develop a small accounting team. You will be involved in ad-hoc duties and financial projects for senior management.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for the hands-on and varied Accountant role, you will need to have experience in a similar position, CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified or finalist, with strong MS excel skills and key attention to detail. You will have broad accounting knowledge including financial and management accounting, treasury processes, along with ledger management. A proactive and dynamic working approach, willing to support others around the business with strong communication skills to build both internal/external relationships at all levels. You will be adaptable to business needs and used to managing work-loads. Experience within the FMCG sector, Sage 200, and managing/developing junior team members will be advantageous but not essential.

What you'll get in return

This permanent accountant role offers a salary between £40,000 - £50,000 per annum, dependable on experience based in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.
