Our client, a prominent company in the South West region, is actively seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join their dynamic team on a full-time, permanent basis.
As the Accounts Assistant, you will support the accounting team by managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling financial transactions, overseeing banking processes, and providing crucial administrative assistance to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the department.
The responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of the processes and controls for accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring accuracy and efficiency throughout.
- Verify general ledger coding, confirm receipt of parts, and ensure services have been delivered before processing payments.
- Follow up with various departments to obtain necessary approvals for invoice and payment processing.
- Perform supplier statement reconciliations, ensuring all records are accurate and discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner.
- Manage employee expense claims and company credit card transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Set up new suppliers and customers in the accounting system and ensure all information is up-to-date and accurate.
- Track and chase missing invoices and credit card receipts, working closely with suppliers and internal teams to resolve any discrepancies.
- Prepare regular payment runs, resolve outstanding ledger queries, and assist with month-end tasks, including journal entries and reporting.
The candidate:
- Proven experience in a similar accounts support role.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills for smooth office operations.
- Proficient in basic accounting, bookkeeping, and financial systems with strong analytical abilities.
- Skilled in accounting software and relevant applications like spreadsheets.
