Accounts Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated Accounts Assistant to join our client's growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing finance queries, ensuring compliance with financial controls, and supporting month and year-end accounting processes. This role is ideal for someone with a solid understanding of accounting principles and a commitment to promoting equality and diversity.
Day to Day of the role:
- Manage the Finance email inbox, addressing queries and requests efficiently.
- Work within a financial control framework, ensuring compliance and accuracy in payments, and identifying ways to strengthen controls.
- Handle tasks within accounts payable, receivable, and rent accounting.
- Administer customer, supplier, and tenant invoices, purchase orders, direct debits, and reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end accounts, service charge calculations, and audit preparations.
- Provide guidance and advice to service areas to ensure compliance with financial processes.
- Advise the senior team of any significant discrepancies or failures in financial or control procedures.
- Oversee the job costing process, including timesheets, and ensure accurate dissemination of information to managers.
- Process monthly Company credit card reconciliations and bank account reconciliation as needed.
- Conduct monthly debtors’ reconciliation and ensure recovery of outstanding Company debts.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for performance and auditing purposes.
- Collaborate within the team, support colleagues, and cover for absences as needed.
- Undertake additional duties as required, supporting the business in various tasks.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in processing a high volume of invoices.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting and accounts payable principles.
- Proficient in data entry with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Intermediate computer software skills, including Excel and accounting packages.
- Good relationship-building skills, both internally and externally.
- Excellent time management skills, flexibility, and adaptability to change.
- Positive attitude with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to work outside normal working hours and travel between company offices
- GCSEs or equivalent qualifications; AAT qualification is desirable.
