We are seeking a dedicated Finance Assistant who will assist the CFO directly with daily tasks and indirectly by keying in data and compiling information on our accounting system. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong blend of administrative skills and accounting knowledge.
Job Purpose:
As a Finance Assistant, you will be instrumental in improving efficiencies and reducing company costs. You will handle financial transactions, process documents, and maintain accurate records, all while following the direction and judgement of the CFO.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Improve efficiencies and reduce company costs
- Enter and code financial transactions appropriately
- Process documents like invoices and credit notes
- Reconcile invoices received with departmental billings
- Make bank deposits and maintain records
- Manage petty cash transactions
- Maintain supplier records and create new supplier accounts
- Track expenses related to specific projects and jobs
- Validate invoices against items or services received
- Check all financial transactions for accuracy
- Key data into the company accounting system
- Disburse funds as needed
- Develop relationships with external advisors, e.g., banks and invoice financing
- Perform other duties as requested by the CFO
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with bookkeeping practices
- Knowledge of accounting terminology, rules, and legislation
- Proficient in Sage50 Accounts and understanding of Xero
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Understanding of filing systems
- Excellent mathematical and administrative skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Analytical skills with the ability to detect inconsistencies
- Effective prioritisation and communication skills
- Proficient in data entry
