Role:We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in finance. The ideal candidate will play a key role in monitoring cash, supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts, and maintaining a strong reporting, analysis, and control environment.
Key Responsibilities:Cash Control:
Assist in checking daily cashier interfaces, posting journals, and reconciling control accounts, alerting relevant teams of any discrepancies.
Reconcile bank statements daily.
Support the weekly review of cash and card control accounts, ensuring outstanding issues are followed up promptly.
Petty Cash:
Prepare accurate journals to ensure correct charging of petty cash expenses and VAT recovery where applicable.
Reconcile key balance sheet accounts, including petty cash control accounts, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Monthly Management Accounts Support:
Prepare and post accrual journals for routine costs (e.g., energy, telecoms, finance charges).
Assist in calculating and booking foreign currency stock purchases, including raising relevant journals.
Review management accounts for completeness and accuracy, investigating and adjusting as necessary.
Support the Purchase Ledger team, including accurate coding of non-purchase order invoices.
Additional Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing schedules for annual financial accounts and audits.
Support the submission of quarterly VAT returns.
Prepare monthly EC Sales Lists and Intrastat Returns.
Key Requirements:
Experience in a similar financial role.
Strong understanding of financial principles.
Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in MS Excel and other office software.
