Role:We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in finance. The ideal candidate will play a key role in monitoring cash, supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts, and maintaining a strong reporting, analysis, and control environment.

Key Responsibilities:Cash Control:

  • Assist in checking daily cashier interfaces, posting journals, and reconciling control accounts, alerting relevant teams of any discrepancies.

  • Reconcile bank statements daily.

  • Support the weekly review of cash and card control accounts, ensuring outstanding issues are followed up promptly.

Petty Cash:

  • Prepare accurate journals to ensure correct charging of petty cash expenses and VAT recovery where applicable.

  • Reconcile key balance sheet accounts, including petty cash control accounts, to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Monthly Management Accounts Support:

  • Prepare and post accrual journals for routine costs (e.g., energy, telecoms, finance charges).

  • Assist in calculating and booking foreign currency stock purchases, including raising relevant journals.

  • Review management accounts for completeness and accuracy, investigating and adjusting as necessary.

  • Support the Purchase Ledger team, including accurate coding of non-purchase order invoices.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing schedules for annual financial accounts and audits.

  • Support the submission of quarterly VAT returns.

  • Prepare monthly EC Sales Lists and Intrastat Returns.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar financial role.

  • Strong understanding of financial principles.

  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and other office software.
