I am delighted to be partnered exclusively with a boutique London based law firm in their search for an Accounts Manager. The role is involves working closely with partners and focuses on reducing the firm's lock up and increasing profitability throughout the firm. The role will inherit two direct reports and be a key part of the finance team.Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Review WIP and Debts for Directors
- Liaise with Directors to improve the speed of cash collection
- Provide relevant reports (e.g. WIP and Debts) for monthly meetings with Directors
- Review billing write offs and ensure any material amounts are collected
- Review unbilled disbursements account balances and disbursements written off for Directors monthly and investigate any significant movements
- Analyze current billing and profitability information for reporting and problem-solving including calculating PPP analysis of individual matters
- Manage the day to day running of the cashiering function adhering to the firm's policies and procedures whilst ensuring compliance with SRA regulations
- Proactively manage the cashier team ensuring that they are motivated, trained, and able to carry out effectively and efficiently the daily, weekly, and monthly tasks they are responsible for.
- To oversee and undertake daily banking functions including bank reconciliations and operation of online banking facilities.
- The processing of client and office accounting transactions including all postings onto LEAP and Xero
- Checking of all residential and commercial conveyancing completion statements and financial checklists.
- The processing of client bills to include checking and posting.
- Supervising and managing our annual SRA Audit and Lexcel inspections.
- Ensure client receipts and payments are processed in an accurate and timely manner
- Ensure that the telegraphic transfers, foreign payments, and BACS payments are processed in line with associated authentication procedures
- Ensure full compliance with the SRA accounts rules and dealing with residual balances and client closures
- Report to Directors and provide reports as required for the everyday function of the practice
- Drive continuous improvements across the function, being pro-active for positive change
- Assist Directors on profitability forecasting for individual matters
- Monitor the effectiveness of client billing and collection processes and suggest improvements
The right candidate will have:
- Experience in solicitors accounts essential
- Experience in LEAP Case Management preferred
- Experience in XERO accounting essential
- Clear Understanding of SRA principles
- Leadership qualities
- Ability to manage a team of staff
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Excellent numeracy and computer skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Good organisational and administration skills
- Discretion and trustworthiness
