Accounts Manager

  • Annual Salary: £35k - £45k per annum
  • Location: Central London
  • Job Type: 5 days in the office; Permanent

We have partnered with a construction firm that is seeking a dedicated Accounts Manager to join their team. This dual role involves managing both the day-to-day financial operations and the overall office environment, ensuring efficiency and compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing transactions, reconciling accounts, maintaining accurate financial records, and overseeing the daily operations of the office.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Process invoices and payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Generate and issue customer invoices and follow up on outstanding payments.
  • Reconcile bank statements with company accounts and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain records of supplier and customer transactions and update the general ledger.
  • File and organise financial documents for audit readiness and ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately in the accounting system.
  • Process payroll, ensure timely payment to employees, and maintain payroll records.
  • Handle HMRC returns, VAT, and PAYE, and prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports.
  • Liaise with external auditors to ensure annual audits are conducted efficiently.
  • Manage day-to-day office operations, including scheduling, supplies procurement, and maintenance.
  • Develop and implement office policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for office-related inquiries and issues, maintaining a clean, organised, and safe office environment.
  • Onboard new employees, maintain employee records, and facilitate internal communications.
  • Monitor and manage office inventory, supplies, and equipment, liaising with vendors and service providers to maintain operational efficiency.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with financial software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks) and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with accounting principles, practices, tax regulations, and statutory reporting requirements.
