Accounts Payable Clerk

Greenfield, Oldham ,OL3 – Must live within a commutable distance to OL3

Salary : Between £22,000 - £24,000 pa

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday between 8:30am and 5:30pm (30 - 60 min unpaid break)

Role Brief

The role of the Accounts Payable Clerk is to support the Management Accountant in providing an effective and efficient financial service to Hartley Botanic Finance Department. The AP Clerk will be responsible for Accounts payable and provide general administrative support. This position is a trusted and vital position within a small accounts team, you must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a strong attention to detail and experience in dealing with confidential information.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Supporting the Management Accountant
  • Organisation of filing and scanning in a timely manner
  • Responsible for Accounts Payable function – matching to PO, invoice coding and input
  • AP liaison and query resolution
  • Clearing AP invoices for payment after appropriate approvals
  • Supplier Statement reconciliation
  • Review of Aged Creditors on a frequent basis
  • Additional reconciliations as required
  • Assist with year-end financial audit
  • Any other duties as required
  • Ensuring work is carried out to a high-quality standard and diligence to carry out proper controls
  • Other tasks as delegated by the Management Accountant

Competencies and role requirements.

  • You will have proven experience working within a growing SME
  • You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work in an ever-changing environment
  • Numerate, articulate and logical thinking
  • Have significant self-motivation and initiative with the ability to manage own workload and work with minimum supervision
  • You must have excellent people skills and communications skills with the ability resolve queries relating to invoices and purchase orders
  • Ability to work supportively as part of a team
  • Hold a high degree of accuracy and ability to work within required tolerances and quality standards
  • Understanding of Accountancy Software, currently Sage 300 with the view to change
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including (Outlook, Excel and Word)
  • AAT level 3 accountancy qualification or similar desired but not essential
