Job Description :

This role has a starting salary of £52,942 per annum for 36 hours per week.

We are excited to be hiring a new Assistant Team Manager (Social Work qualified) to join our amazing and supportive team based at Epsom General Hospital. The role offers hybrid working however there is the expectation to be in the office for a minimum of 3 days a week. Our team covers the hours of 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and 8am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Typically, our Assistant Team Managers work from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

About the Team

We are a busy and diverse team managing hospital discharges across two acute hospital sites, Epsom General and St Helier. We undertake Care Act assessments and support planning, which can include Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interest decisions, often following the Discharge to Assess (D2A) pathway. The complexity of our work varies greatly, supporting all adults of the hospital who are Surrey residents with a need for care and support. We always strive to get people back home, through a strengths-based and person-centred approach, and support them to live their best lives.

About the Role

As one of two Assistant Team Managers, you will support the day-to-day running of a busy, dynamic team, effectively prioritising daily challenges and expectations. You will support the Team Manager to deliver high quality, personalised adult social care. Additionally, a key accountability of the role is developing staff practice ensuring the team you work within is the best it can be. We understand the challenges of day-to-day frontline social work and have put tools in place to improve your work/life balance and make day-to-day tasks more manageable.

Shortlisting Criteria

To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:

  • Professional social work qualification, any post qualification practice or training requirements and Social Work England Registration
  • Significant post-qualification experience, including experience in a social care setting, and excellent understanding of the social care and health agendas
  • Applied knowledge of Adult Social Care legislation, including the Mental Capacity Act and the NHS Continuing Healthcare National Framework
  • Effective knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults' procedures
  • Excellent communication skills that enable you to successfully manage a team and develop effective relationships
  • Experience providing effective professional supervision to less experienced colleagues
  • A track record in inter-agency partnership working
  • Strong commitment to achieving positive, strengths-based outcomes that promote maximum community inclusion, and personal choice and control

Surrey has both urban and rural areas and locality based social care workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK and access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area.
