About this role:Wells Fargo is seeking an Investment Banking Associate. Key function is responsibility for the structuring, underwriting and execution of asset-backed transactions (both asset- backed lending facilities and capital markets trades across asset classes), typically working as part of a larger team. The Asset Backed Finance & Securitization (ABF) group provides asset-backed financing solutions to customers, including bank and non-bank financial institutions, corporates, mortgage companies, asset managers and private equity. ABF structures loans to be held by the Bank or sold as securities to institutional investors. The group provides direct structured lending and access to the public capital markets. ABF works closely with Markets Sales and Trading to utilize their distribution and trading capabilities. In this role, you will:
- The credit risk underwriting, structuring and execution of ABF transactions both for private financing as well as for the public securitised markets.
- Ongoing interaction with the internal control functions, internal Legal and external counsel, rating agencies; strong involvement with the approval process from the business standpoint.
- Supporting the build out of the relevant infrastructure for the efficient booking of transactions, on-going management and monitoring of risk/performance.
- Support to the origination teams within Banking and Capital Markets when required.
- Provides Ml and escalates any material matters on an ongoing basis to the relevant managers to support the fulfilment of their oversight responsibility as per applicable regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in Investment Banking, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Current experience of asset-backed capital markets transactions (public market) and balance sheet funded (private market) sectors, both in a structuring and underwriting capacity.
- Significant expertise in cash-flow modelling and contractual documentation review in conjunction with legal counsels and internal control functions.
- Current experience in dealing with third party agencies in the rating of public and private trades across asset classes. Current experience and know-how in market risk hedging for exposures deriving from private financing and capital markets exit deals.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory capital framework for the securitisation business. Ability to support the origination team when required.
- Fluency in English.
- Strong communicator and presenter.
