This role is perfect for someone with a passion for infrastructure maintenance and a keen eye for detail.

About BEAR Scotland

BEAR Scotland is at the forefront of maintaining and enhancing Scotland’s transport infrastructure. As part of an alliance between Vinci, Jacobs, and Breedon, BEAR Scotland handles two of Scotland’s four Trunk Road Maintenance Contracts, alongside DBFO contracts like M80 Stepps-Haggs and A92 Dundee-Arbroath. With a focus on operational excellence, sustainability, and innovation, BEAR Scotland plays a key role in shaping Scotland's road network.

The Opportunity

Prime Workforce, on behalf of BEAR Scotland, is looking for a detail-oriented Asset Inspector to support the ongoing management and maintenance of Scotland's road network. This role involves inspecting road assets such as roads, bridges, and other infrastructure, ensuring they are in optimal condition and ready for maintenance or repair.

Key Responsibilities

As an Asset Inspector, you will:

  • Inspect Road Infrastructure: Conduct regular inspections of roads, bridges, and related infrastructure to assess their condition and identify maintenance needs.
  • Asset Condition Reporting: Record and report findings of inspections, documenting any defects, damages, or areas in need of improvement.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure that all inspections meet industry standards and comply with safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with Teams: Work closely with project managers, road maintenance teams, and other stakeholders to share findings and support effective planning for repairs or upgrades.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inspections, performance reports, and maintenance recommendations.
  • Support Maintenance Planning: Provide input into the planning of road maintenance schedules and priorities based on asset conditions.
  • Promote Best Practices: Contribute to continuous improvements in inspection processes and safety practices.

Skills and Experience

To excel in this role, you will bring:

  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Road Maintenance, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Proven experience in asset inspection or road maintenance, with a strong understanding of road infrastructure and maintenance needs.
  • Technical Knowledge: Sound knowledge of inspection techniques, road materials, and maintenance processes.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent observational skills with the ability to identify potential issues and ensure thorough documentation.
  • Health and Safety Awareness: A clear understanding of safety protocols and regulations within the infrastructure maintenance sector.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, capable of liaising with internal teams, clients, and external contractors.
  • Driving Licence: A valid UK driving licence is essential, as the role requires travel to multiple inspection sites.
