Assistant Accountant - Insurance - Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited : Job Details

Your new companyI am working with a specialist commercial insurance firm who underwrite for speciality lines. They are looking to expand their finance team and are looking to onboard an assist accountant to join their finance team of 10. The role is for 6 months with a view to go permanent. The role is to ensure timely payment of claims, FAC, premium returns and employee expenses in accordance with company policies and procedures and to provide cover for the other team members.Your new role

• Manage insurance payments (claims, surveyor fee, FAC, premium return and claim fund).
• Checking and making payments for employee expense reimbursements.
• Posting journals about the accounting system, including but not limited to operational/insurance payments and investments. Monitoring and FX posting for the 'Clearing Account.'
• Covering for other team members in their absence, particularly for the other Assistant Accountant.
• Review of the monthly debtors ageing and working with Jordan team to provide comments on the overdue balances.
• Reconciliation of all insurance transactions (XIS) related bank accounts and the money market accounts.
• Monthly summary of the cash movements of the XIS accounts.
• Preparing bank transfers instructions for investments as advised by senior team members/ Chief Investment officer.
• Providing analysis of selected expense accounts by comparing actual spent against the budget.
• Assist in running ad hoc reports.
• Assist team with other areas of finance during the quarter end.
• Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.

What you'll need to succeed

• Available to start within 1 week
• Experience working within an insurance finance team.
• Knowledge of managing insurance payments
