Assistant Accountant

  • Salary: £35k - £40k per annum

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our finance team. This role is crucial for maintaining our financial processes, including managing sales and purchase ledgers, credit control, and banking. The ideal candidate will be highly numerate, organised, and have excellent communication skills.

Day to day of the role:

  • Manage sales invoicing, credit notes, and maintain client accounts, including reconciling customer funds and arranging repayments.
  • Process sales ledger receipts and liaise with customers to maintain records.
  • Handle credit control duties efficiently.
  • Process purchase ledger invoices in a timely manner, including capturing costs against inventory.
  • Manage Council Tax and utilities for properties under inventory and conduct supplier payment runs.
  • Perform supplier statement reconciliations and maintain supplier records.
  • Liaise with suppliers to resolve queries and process expenses within policy.
  • Maintain inventory records, reconcile inventory costs and revenue, and manage deposits received and paid.
  • Create bank payments for approval, process bank transactions, and reconcile bank accounts.
  • Reconcile intercompany balances, maintain the fixed asset register, and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintain accruals and prepayments.
  • Support the Finance team with ad-hoc information requests and other necessary tasks.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent numeracy and organisational skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience working in a finance team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc).
  • Experience of Xero is desirable.
  • Part or fully qualified ACCA is desirable.
