Job Description :

Reed Accountancy & Finance is delighted to support our FMCG client based in Ashford in their search for a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant. This role is integral to assisting the finance team during the transition to a new ERP system and supporting various month-end procedures. It is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and possesses strong data management skills.

Assistant Accountant Key Responsibilities:-

  • Collaborate with the finance team to foster a friendly and productive office environment.
  • Maintain strong relationships with all colleagues, both internally and across the Group.
  • Keep the Finance Manager promptly informed of any developments or issues affecting the smooth operation of the Finance Department.
  • Ensure the strategic objectives set for the Finance Department are achieved efficiently.
  • Review and monitor information processed by the department, ensuring attention to detail and high accuracy.
  • Gather and validate data from existing software for transfer onto a new ERP system, adhering to set deadlines.
  • Support and participate in the month-end procedure across all functions, which includes:
  • Sales Ledger: Assist the sales ledger team during peak periods, validate customer and sales data, and prepare files for software upload.
  • Purchase Ledger:Support the purchase ledger team during busy times, validate supplier and purchasing data, and prepare files for software upload.
  • Nominal Ledger:Engage in all areas including bank, asset, stock, overheads, and foreign exchange management; confirm and validate balance transfers and prepare files for software upload.

Assistant Accountant Required Skills and Expertise:

  • Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively within the finance team.
  • Strong communication skills to maintain good relationships with colleagues and inform management of pertinent issues.
  • Strategic thinking with the capability to ensure departmental objectives are met efficiently.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and detail, especially when handling large data sets.
  • Experience with ERP systems is highly advantageous.
