Our client, a Salford based property group, are seeking an Assistant Accountant for an initial 12 month Fixed Term Contract. This role supports senior finance team members by providing day-to-day financial and accounting assistance, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of services. It also involves contributing to the month-end reporting process and maintaining key financial controls.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the finance team to prepare accurate monthly reports and management accounts.
- Take ownership of specific reporting processes, working with internal stakeholders to ensure data consistency across departments.
- Oversee financial aspects of contracts, including monitoring payments and managing external relationships.
- Prepare monthly expenditure reports and variance analyses.
- Handle capitalisation reporting, including detailed monthly journals and reconciliations.
- Support the accounts payable team with financial reconciliations and ensure accurate provisions are maintained.
- Manage the financial aspects of utilities and other operational costs, ensuring correct allocations and recharges.
- Assist with internal and external audits, addressing audit queries as needed.
- Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate reporting of assets.
- Complete bank reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies in reports, updating processes as necessary.
- Assist with compliance filings to relevant authorities.
- Ensure adherence to financial policies and data privacy regulations.
- Identify and address training needs, supporting continuous professional development.
Desired Skills / Experience:
- Experience with accounting software and financial systems (Sage preferred)
- Strong experience with journal entries, accruals, and prepayments.
- Knowledge of balance sheet reconciliations.
- Proficiency in Excel and strong analytical skills.
- Excellent numeracy and communication abilities.
