Assistant Accountant - Gleeson Recruitment Group : Job Details

Gleeson are excited to be partnering with this exciting manufacturing business based in Tamworth to recruit for an Assistant Accountant vacancy to join the team on a 12 months fixed term contract. This position is available due to an upcoming project the business will be working on which is going to increase the workload, however if everything goes to plan then this increased workload will extend the 12 months and the business will be looking to make the position permanent. This role here will be the connection between the purchase and sales ledger team and the head of finance.

This role will be getting involved in month end support such as bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and a range of accrual and prepayment journal postings, as well as providing support to the accounts payable and accounts receivable teams. This role is looking to interview as soon as possible with the plan of starting in the new year.

Key responsibilities:

• Supporting the purchase ledger team with:
  • Invoicing
  • Supplier statement reconciliations
  • Query resolution
• Supporting the sales ledger team with:
  • Raising invoices
  • Reconciling bank statements
  • Allocating payments incoming to the bank
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Posting of accruals and prepayment journals
• Attending senior leadership meetings and providing insight into financial standing.
• Supporting the head of finance with ad-hoc support

Candidate Attributes and Skills:

• Have previously worked within an accounts assistant role where you are confident with a range of transactional tasks
• Have had exposure to the responsibilities of this role, although they are happy to train someone on these more senior responsibilities
• Have a relevant finance qualification such as AAT, ACCA or CIMA or be studying towards it
• Be immediately available, or on a short notice
