Assistant Accountant

We are helping a growing SME hire their first Assistant Accountant. This role will report directly to a lovely Finance Director. You will play a key role in building and setting up a world-class finance team!

You can work fully remotely in this role; however, being prepared to travel to London 1 day a week, if required, would be ideal.

The Role

This hands-on Assistant Accountant role will report directly to the Finance Director and will involve the following:

• Processing and paying supplier invoices.
• Managing accounts payable (AP), accruals, and prepayments.
• Preparing VAT returns.
• Conducting quarterly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Raising invoices to clients.
• Reconciling supplier statements.
• Dealing with supplier queries.
• Managing sales and purchase ledgers.
• Processing purchase and customer invoices.
• Handling bank reconciliations and processing bank transactions.
• Preparing and posting monthly journals.
• Drafting supplier pay-runs.
• Maintaining staff expense claims.
• Supporting credit control functions.
• Maintaining accurate financial records.
• Assisting in preparing financial statements and reports.
