Assistant Attendance Officer

I am working with a school in Hounslow as they recruit for an Assistant Attendance Officer to join their dedicated team. This role is crucial in monitoring and enhancing student attendance and punctuality across Years 7 to 13. The successful candidate will work closely with students, staff, parents, and carers to reduce absence levels and address punctuality issues, ensuring all students have the best possible opportunities to succeed.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Work alongside the Attendance Officer to ensure daily attendance registers are accurately completed and follow up on any discrepancies.
- Follow up on unexplained absences with parents/carers, escalating issues as necessary in accordance with school procedures.
- Oversee the administration of absence procedures, including sending letters home, organising attendance clinics, and liaising with external agencies.
- Produce and interpret detailed attendance reports for school leaders, identifying key statistics and patterns that require attention.
- Track and support the attendance of vulnerable student groups, collaborating with school leaders to devise effective interventions.
- Lead regular check-ins to review the effectiveness of interventions and support measures.
- Maintain up-to-date records of communications and interventions related to attendance.
- Coordinate with parents/carers and students to implement and monitor attendance improvement strategies.
- Conduct home visits as needed to directly address attendance issues with families.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- GCSE or equivalent level qualifications, including at least a Grade C in English and Mathematics.
- Proven experience in an educational setting, ideally with direct involvement in attendance management.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and report production.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
- Proficient in using IT systems, particularly Excel, for data management and analysis.
- Knowledge of attendance-related policies and potential interventions.
- Full UK driving license and access to a car for home visits.
